Peer to Peer Mentorship Program

Supporting growth between peers

The Werklund Mentorship Program provides mentorship opportunities for students in our Bachelor of Education Program. The Peer to Peer Program connects students from across the years so they can support each other, share resources, and meet new people!

As a participant in the program, you will...

  • Use individualized supports to help you connect, navigate, and progress as a pre-service teacher
  • Develop lasting connections to peers as part of your broader professional network
  • Develop your leadership skills and development capacity
  • Support your fellow teachers as they navigate their coursework and moving through their degree program

Program participation is recognized by the Werklund School of Education and is part of the overall Experiential Learning programs.

What's Involved

1: Register

Use the "Register Here" button below to access the Mentorlink platform. Once on the platform, click the green "Join Program" button to access the Werklund-specific Mentorship Program.

Answer a few questions about what interests you, and what you hope to gain from mentoring. This helps us match you with people with similar teaching areas and interests.

2: We Match You

Our team will match and group students through the Mentorlink platform. Groups can use the communication tools availble through Mentorlink to get to know each other. There are also additional resources available to groups on Mentorlink.

3: Get Connected

Senior year students will initiate communication once the group has been set up. Groups determine how and when to connect - usually once per month. Communication is key to successful connection and mentorship.

Being a mentor with the Peer to Peer Mentorship Program has helped me to develop skills and confidence as a leader. It was awesome to share experiences and learn with my mentee, all while building our friendship!

Gemma, Peer Mentor

As a mentor in this program, I have appreciated the opportunity to share my learning and experiences with a peer in a way that is flexible and low-stakes. I am glad that I have been able to share advice that would have been helpful to me in my first year and answer questions in a way that is meaningful and useful to my mentee.
